Thailand has announced its intention to launch an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system and will instead roll out a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) for visa-excluded travelers.

The Thailand Digital Arrival Card will be administered as a compulsory pre-landing enrollment system for travelers from 93 visa-excluded nations. It will supersede the initially delayed ETA that was booked to start on December 1, 2024.
According to the report, the determination to revoke the ETA comes amid ongoing dialogues around the suggested THB 300 tourism charge, which was planned to be prepaid digitally. Instead of running two coinciding forums, the Thai government merged access procedures into a single digital structure.

While the Thailand Digital Arrival Card is not a visa, it will operate as a digital clearance form, permitting immigration authorities to screen landings before they enter the nation.
Officials state that the system is anticipated to decrease wait durations and eradicate the demand for paper immigration forms, like the TM6 card.
